What is employee lifecycle analytics?

Employee lifecycle analytics reads engagement, eNPS and retention by tenure stage, so you can see where in the journey people disengage and where they leave. In CultureMonkey it sits under Analyse, built from the lifecycle surveys that go out automatically at each stage.

  • RetentionAnnual retention, and how many people are retained through each stage, from joining and separation dates.
  • Engagement and eNPSFor every stage, with participation and a quarterly trend.
  • DriversDriver scores for each stage, and a heatmap by team, location and manager.
  • Early warning signalsCounts of silent, low-engagement and low-eNPS employees by stage. On anonymous stages, never names.
  • AnonymitySegments below your anonymity threshold are hidden on every view.
The journey

The seven stages we measure

  1. OnboardingFirst month
  2. AdaptationMonths 1 to 4
  3. ProductivityMonths 4 to 6
  4. ComfortMonths 6 to 8
  5. GrowthMonths 8 to 10
  6. Burnout & Wellness18 months and on
  7. SeparationBefore the last day

Each stage gets its own survey, sent on tenure, and you can add custom stages. More in the employee life cycle guide.

Key capabilities

What you can see at each stage

A single engagement score hides the month people start to drift. Reading each stage on its own shows where to step in.

One summary for the whole journey

Retention, engagement and eNPS across every stage on one screen, with a short written summary of the weakest stage and where silence concentrates.

  • Annual retention with its year-on-year change, once joining and separation dates are in place.
  • Engagement and eNPS across all lifecycle stages, compared with the previous period.
  • The lowest-scoring teams, managers and locations at each stage, in one table.
  • One Period filter for every lifecycle report, kept as you move between tabs.

Go deep on any single stage

Open a stage to see how many people made it through, how they feel, and whether it is getting better. Pair it with eNPS across the employee lifecycle.

  • Retained through stage, engagement, participation and eNPS for that stage.
  • Engagement over time as a quarterly trend.
  • Where the stage scores highest and lowest by segment.
  • Engagement and participation trends for any team, location or other group.
  • Each driver's score over time, for that stage.

Find the team where a stage breaks

A stage can look fine overall and fail in one place. The driver heatmap shows each stage by team, location and manager.

  • Average driver scores for every stage.
  • Colour bands that show the weak cells at a glance.
  • Groups below your anonymity threshold are hidden.
  • Export the heatmap to Excel, with or without its colours, for the period on screen.

Early warning signals at every stage

Three signals show who may be drifting at each stage. On anonymous stages they are counts only; names appear only for stages you run as non-anonymous. They are a reason for a conversation, not a prediction. Read more on stay interviews.

  • Silent: sent a lifecycle survey and did not respond, with where they cluster by team, location or manager.
  • Low engagement: a stage score below your account's threshold.
  • Low eNPS: detractors at that stage. Overlaps are counted once.

Close the loop on what people said

Comments stay attached to their stage, so onboarding feedback is read as onboarding feedback. Anything negative without an action is counted.

  • Text responses filtered by lifecycle stage.
  • Negative feedback without actions, per stage and overall.
  • Action plans that start from the stage that needs them. See lifecycle survey ROI.

Managers see their own people only

Lifecycle reports follow the same rules as every CultureMonkey report. See role-based access.

  • Managers see results for their own participants only.
  • Anonymity thresholds apply to every stage, segment and heatmap cell.
  • Reminders go to employees directly; managers never see who has not responded.
Metrics

What each number tells you

Each metric answers a different question. Retention figures come from joining and separation dates; the rest come from lifecycle survey responses.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is lifecycle analytics different from an engagement survey report?

An engagement survey report averages everyone who answered at one point in time. Lifecycle analytics groups responses by how long people have been at the company, so the first month and month eighteen are read separately, next to retention through each stage. A company-wide score can hold steady while one stage is falling, and only the stage view shows it.

Which metrics measure employee retention by stage?

Annual retention rate, retained through stage, engagement and eNPS for each stage, participation, and early warning signals. Retention figures come from joining and separation dates, so CultureMonkey needs those dates to show them. The others come from lifecycle survey responses.

What are the 7 stages of the employee lifecycle in CultureMonkey?

By default: Onboarding (the first month), Adaptation (months 1 to 4), Productivity (months 4 to 6), Comfort (months 6 to 8), Growth (months 8 to 10), Burnout & Wellness (18 months and on) and Separation (before the last day). Stage windows can be adjusted, and you can add custom stages.

Does CultureMonkey predict who will leave?

No. It shows early warning signals as counts by stage: employees who were sent a lifecycle survey and did not respond, those scoring below your engagement threshold, and eNPS detractors. They point to where a conversation is needed, not to an outcome. On anonymous stages they are counts and never name anyone; names appear only for stages you run as non-anonymous.

Who can see lifecycle results?

Admins see the whole organization and managers see results for their own participants. Every view applies your anonymity threshold, so a team, location or manager group with too few responses is hidden. On anonymous stages, no one can see who did or did not respond; managers never see it on any stage.
