Measure

Measure employee wellbeing as drivers you can act on

  • Score wellbeing as separate drivers, work-life balance, workload, wellness, not one satisfaction question, so a burnout problem never hides inside an average.
  • Drill into the hotspot: by team, manager, and location, down to the exact element inside a driver that is dragging the score. The deep analytics live in People Analytics.
  • Read the why without reading every comment: AI classifies open-text feedback into drivers and scores the sentiment behind each one.

Catch the slide before it becomes burnout

  • Wellbeing moves slowly; the trend is the signal. Track every driver across survey cycles and compare heatmap periods side by side.
  • The happiness meter reads the emotion in written comments, so you see how people sound, not just how they score.
  • Recurring pulses keep the listening low-touch: a few questions on an automated cadence through the pulse survey engine, so nobody is running another survey project by hand.

Speak Up

A safe channel for what is hard to say out loud

  • Let employees report concerns anonymously on a fully anonymous channel for wellbeing, safety, or misconduct.
  • Follow up without unmasking anyone through two-way anonymous messaging that keeps both sides protected.
  • Nothing sensitive sits in an inbox, so every case gets a stage, an owner, and an SLA target.
Act

From signal to support, with the loop closed

  • AI-suggested actions come from your lowest wellbeing drivers, not a generic playbook. The full workflow lives in Act on Feedback.
  • Turn a worrying answer into an owned action straight from the feedback item, with a named owner and a deadline.
  • Reach back without unmasking anyone: open an anonymous conversation with the person behind a response that worries you.
  • Managers get nudged on critical items inside their own dashboard, so wellbeing follow-through is not HR's job alone.

FAQ

Employee wellbeing questions, answered

Measuring wellbeing

What to measure, and how burnout shows up in the data.

How do you measure employee wellbeing?
Measure wellbeing the same way you measure engagement: with recurring, anonymous surveys that score specific drivers rather than one satisfaction question. Track work-life balance, workload, manager support and psychological safety as separate drivers, so you can tell a burnout problem from a pay problem. The trend across cycles matters more than any single score, because wellbeing moves slowly and a one-off reading tells you very little.
What is the difference between employee wellbeing and employee engagement?
Engagement measures how connected and motivated people feel about their work. Wellbeing measures whether they have the health, energy and psychological safety to sustain it. They move together but are not the same: a team can post high engagement scores while quietly burning out, which is why a rising engagement score alongside falling work-life-balance and workload scores is worth investigating rather than celebrating.
How do you measure burnout in the workplace?
Burnout rarely announces itself in one question, so measure the signals around it: workload and work-life-balance scores falling across consecutive cycles, sentiment in written comments turning negative, and participation dropping in a team that used to respond. CultureMonkey tracks each driver over time and flags the decline. Treat that flag as a prompt to investigate, not a diagnosis; the platform measures signals, it does not assess anyone's health.

Running the programme

Cadence, and acting on results without burning out HR.

How often should you run employee wellbeing surveys?
Most organizations pair one detailed annual or twice-yearly survey with shorter pulse checks each month or quarter. The pulses catch problems while they are still fixable; the deeper survey gives you enough data to segment properly and set benchmarks. Running only an annual survey means you learn about a burnout problem roughly ten months after it started. In parts of the EU, Belgium for example, periodic psychosocial risk assessment is a legal requirement, so a recurring cadence doubles as your evidence trail.
How do you act on wellbeing survey results without overwhelming managers?
Give each manager their own team's results and one or two prioritised actions, not the full company dataset. Managers disengage when handed a dashboard and no direction, so pair every low-scoring driver with a recommended next step and a way to track it to done. Measuring the ratio of feedback received to actions closed tells you whether the programme is actually working better than any engagement score will.

Honesty and anonymity

Why people answer truthfully, and how they stay protected.

Will employees answer honestly about mental health at work?
Only if anonymity is genuinely enforced and visibly explained. Responses should never be traceable to an individual in reporting, and every team or demographic cut needs a minimum response threshold, five by default, below which results stay masked and roll up to the parent group. Say so plainly in the invitation. Participation on sensitive topics tracks how much people trust the process, not how well the questions are written.
What is a safe way for employees to raise sensitive issues at work?
A channel that is anonymous by design, not by promise. CultureMonkey's Speak Up portal lets an employee raise a wellbeing, safety, or harassment concern anonymously, routes it to an assigned investigator through defined case stages, and supports two-way messaging, so you can ask follow-up questions without the reporter ever revealing who they are.
How do wellbeing surveys stay anonymous?
Responses are reported only in aggregate, and every team or demographic cut is protected by a minimum response threshold: below it, results stay masked and roll up to the parent group. Admins can additionally hide free-text comments and heatmaps from specific roles. No wellbeing score on a dashboard is ever traceable to a named individual.
