Employee Lifecycle Analytics in CultureMonkey reads your lifecycle surveys by tenure stage. For each stage, from onboarding to separation, it shows engagement, eNPS, participation and how many people were retained through it, so you can see where in the journey people disengage and where they leave. It is built from the lifecycle surveys that go out automatically at each stage.

This guide explains each tab, how to read the Summary and the heatmap, what the At-Risk signals count and when names appear, how the Period filter behaves, and who can open the page.

In a nutshell

Open Lifecycle Analytics to reach Lifecycle Reports, with Summary, Reports, Drivers, At-Risk and, where your account has it, Text Responses. The Summary opens on all stages together; pick a stage to go deeper. Retention needs joining and separation dates. At-Risk shows counts of silent, low-engagement and low-eNPS employees; on anonymous stages that is all it shows, and names appear only for stages you run as non-anonymous. Groups below your anonymity threshold are hidden on every view.

What is on the Lifecycle Analytics page?

Click Lifecycle Analytics in the sidebar. The page is titled Lifecycle Reports and shows "Not enough data!" until at least one lifecycle stage survey has enough responses to report on.

TabWhat it shows
SummaryRetention, engagement, eNPS and at-risk counts across all stages, the lifecycle journey chart and the lowest-scoring segments. Pick a stage to see that stage on its own.
ReportsOverall Lifecycle Engagement, where you can click feedback points to read negative feedback, and Lifecycle Time Series, with engagement and Participation Rate over time for each stage.
DriversThe LIFECYCLE HEATMAP of driver scores by stage, and LIFECYCLE COMPOSITE ANALYSIS, which shows which driver needs focus across stages.
At-RiskThe distribution of at-risk employees across all stages, grouped by signal: silent, low engagement and low eNPS.
Text ResponsesComments from lifecycle surveys, filtered by stage. This tab appears only when your account has it switched on.

Reading the Summary

The Summary opens on all stages together. The cards across the top show:

CardWhat it tells you
Retention rateAnnual retention with its change on the year before. It needs joining and separation dates; without them the card says so instead of showing a number.
EngagementEngagement across lifecycle stages, compared with the previous period.
eNPSeNPS across lifecycle stages.
At-riskCounts of silent, low-engagement and low-eNPS employees. Someone who shows more than one signal is counted once in the total.

Under the cards, a short written summary names your weakest stage and its score, and where silent employees are concentrated. The lifecycle journey chart then plots retention as a line and engagement as bars across the stages, so you can see which stage people leave after. Lowest-Scoring Segments Across the Employee Journey lists the teams, managers and locations with the lowest score at each stage, skipping any group too small to show safely.

Pick a stage to open it. The stage view shows:

  • Retention: how many people were retained through the stage.
  • Engagement, Participation (of those invited in the period) and eNPS for that stage.
  • Drivers at this stage: the average score of each driver.
  • Engagement over time: a quarterly trend for the stage.
  • Feedback sentiment as negative, neutral and positive shares, and Negative feedback without actions.
  • Silent: how many people have not responded at this stage and where they cluster by team, location or manager. This card never shows names.
  • Score by segment: where the stage is strongest and weakest, with groups below the anonymity threshold hidden.

Drivers and the lifecycle heatmap

A stage can look fine overall and fail in one team. On Drivers, the LIFECYCLE HEATMAP shows average driver scores for each stage. Filter it to a single stage, then click a score pill to drill into that driver. Use Filter to narrow the view by location, business unit, team or manager.

To share the heatmap, export it to Excel, with or without its colours. The export covers the period you have selected.

Note

Participation on the heatmap counts responses in the selected period against everyone invited, so it reads lower than the participation figure on the Summary.

What are At-Risk signals?

At-Risk signals show who may be drifting at each stage. They are a reason for a conversation, not a prediction of who will leave. There are three:

SignalWho it counts
SilentEmployees who were sent a lifecycle stage survey and have not responded.
Low engagementEmployees whose stage engagement score is below your account's threshold.
Low eNPSDetractors at that stage. This signal appears only when eNPS is visible on your account.

What you see when you click a bar on the At-Risk tab depends on how the stage survey runs:

Stage surveyWhat you get
AnonymousCounts only. CultureMonkey does not reveal who is silent, low-scoring or a detractor.
Non-anonymousA list of the employees in that signal, with each person's participation rate, engagement score and eNPS.

Each stage on the Lifecycle page shows whether its survey is anonymous or non-anonymous. At-Risk counts are a live snapshot, so the Period filter does not change them. To share the distribution, export it to CSV.

How the Period filter works

Use Period at the top of the page to read any window: pick one of the commonly used ranges or set a custom range. The period stays in place as you move between tabs. A few views follow their own rules:

  • At-Risk counts are always a live snapshot.
  • Lifecycle Time Series on Reports follows its own range dropdown.
  • Text Responses shows the last 30 days when the period is set to all time. Pick a period to see older comments.

Who can see Lifecycle Analytics?

Admins whose survey access includes lifecycle surveys, or all surveys. Every view applies your anonymity threshold, so a team, location or manager group with too few responses is hidden. Reminders to silent employees are sent by the system, and managers never see who has not responded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Retention rate card show no number?

Retention is calculated from joining and separation dates. Until those dates are in CultureMonkey, the card asks for them instead of showing a figure. Syncing them from your HRIS keeps them current.

Does Lifecycle Analytics predict who will leave?

No. The At-Risk signals count employees who are silent, scoring low or detractors at a stage. They point to where a conversation is needed, not to an outcome.

Why can't I see names when I click an At-Risk bar?

The stage survey is anonymous. On anonymous stages, CultureMonkey shows counts only. Names appear only for stages you run as non-anonymous.

Why don't I see the Text Responses tab?

It is switched on per account. Ask your CultureMonkey Success Manager to turn it on.

Why is my At-Risk tab called Disengaged?

Your account is on the earlier version of Lifecycle Analytics, which uses the name Disengaged for the same tab. New accounts get the current version.
